Clipping FAQ

How getting paid to clip videos works on Clipiy, for clippers, creators and brands.

In short: Clipiy pays clippers per 1,000 verified views for short-form clips made from funded campaigns, and pays out to M-Pesa. Creators and brands fund campaigns from KES 400 and only pay for real, verified views.

What is Clipiy?

Clipiy is a clipping marketplace where creators and brands fund campaigns and clippers get paid to turn their videos into short-form clips for TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts. Clippers earn for every 1,000 verified views their approved clips reach.

What is clipping?

Clipping is cutting the best moments from long videos, streams and podcasts into short clips and posting them on short-form platforms. Streamers, podcasters and brands use networks of clippers to reach audiences far beyond their own channels.

How do clippers get paid on Clipiy?

Clippers are paid to their Safaricom M-Pesa number. Earnings are held for 48 hours after views are verified, then become ready to collect; once your balance reaches KES 500 you enter an amount, press Withdraw to M-Pesa and Clipiy sends it through Paystack. Clipiy keeps 10% as its platform fee and Paystack's M-Pesa transfer fee (KES 20 for up to KES 1,500) is deducted, so withdrawing KES 500 pays you KES 430.

How many views does a clip need to earn money?

A clip earns once it reaches 1,000 verified views, then for every further complete block of 1,000 views. Each campaign sets its own rate, at least KES 200 per 1,000 views, and a maximum it will pay per clip.

How are views verified?

Clipiy reads view counts from the platforms rather than trusting screenshots: YouTube views come from the YouTube Data API, and TikTok and Instagram views come from their public post data. Views are re-checked every 6 hours, so the count on a clip stays the same between checks and then updates to the latest figure. Counts never go backwards.

Which platforms can I post clips on?

Clipiy campaigns use TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts. Each campaign lists the platforms it allows, and you can only submit clips posted on those platforms.

How much does it cost to run a clipping campaign?

A clipping campaign starts from KES 400, paid up front through Paystack. Clipiy keeps a 10% platform fee from every payment, including top-ups, and the rest is your clipper budget: pay KES 1,000 and KES 900 goes to clippers. You choose a reward of at least KES 200 per 1,000 verified views and a cap per clip, and you can add funds any time the campaign is performing well.

What happens if a creator does not review my clip?

If a campaign owner does not approve or reject your clip within 48 hours, Clipiy approves it automatically and starts tracking its views. This protects clippers from waiting indefinitely.

Can I use my own footage in a clip?

It depends on the campaign. Each brief says whether clippers may use only the approved source videos, their own footage as well, or only their own footage, so check the brief before you edit.

Are fake or bought views allowed?

No. Bought views, bots and view farms are prohibited, and earnings linked to artificial activity can be withheld or reversed. See the Terms & Conditions for details.
